Hello! Gosh it has been a while! A lot has happened so let me get you caught up real quick on our family.
Right after we were planning on the surgery for 2017, God had other plans in mind.
At the end of March we had to make plans for my husband to find a new job. So we knew we would stay in AZ until the end of May, so the kids could finish out the school year and since I worked at their school, I could finish out my job at the kids school as well.
So at this point we had to cancel Jacob's amputation surgery for the time being. We knew it was just what was in God's plan for the moment.
So once the end of the school year came, we put all our stuff in storage and two days after school was out we said goodbye to Arizona and went to CA. All our families live in CA so we went there to stay with family until Jacob's new job was all in place. He accepted a job in Texas, and the company was paying for our move it is just a long process that's for sure. We stayed in CA for about a month and a half. Which it was nice being able to spend so much time with everyone since we knew we were going to be living much further away now.
We got to Texas on July 9,2017. We stayed in a hotel in Dallas for two months while we were in search of a house to rent. We ended up in a little town called Waxahachie . Its a cute little town with a fun old courthouse downtown with quaint little shops all around it.
So once we got settled in the house and found a new pediatrician, we got the entire process started all over again. Once we saw our new pediatrician, she referred us to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas. We sent in our application to them, and like many things it was just a waiting process. They called us fairly quickly after receiving our application but they couldn't make our first appointment until they got all of Jacob's medical records from his past surgeries at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Once they finally got all that we were scheduled for our first appointment on June 8,2018.
The new orthopedic Dr. was great, and they sent us to several x-rays and to see the amputation specialist to get some information from that department to cover all areas since we told them we were gearing to that route before we left Arizona. We were there for several hours.
The next step was for Jacob to meet with the psychologist. It is a requirement for any time of major surgery like we have been discussing.
They are also going to set us an appointment with the Dr. at the same time there is another child around his age for him to meet with before any final decisions are finalized as well.
So we left there yesterday feeling good about the next steps and moving forward with the same amputation plans we had int he past.
I have a call in to the psychology department to get that next appointment scheduled.
Ill keep you updated after the next appointment.
